hey all. just a quick note, as i’ve been meaning to post a
blog for quite some time now (ever since taking my daughter
to see Miley Cyrus, which was an awesome show, by the way!
we sat right next to my old friend, John Mayer. my daughter
thought he stole her purse when it accidentally got pushed
under his seat.), but i don’t have much time. i’m in a
coffeeshop in atlanta waiting for Brandon to pick me up and
give me a ride to Johnny Colt’s studio where I am spending
the week, together with Pat, Johnny, Brandon and Scott,
getting our feet wet again and writing some new Train music.
we started yesterday. it felt great to be together with the
guys again playing music. we wrote two songs together
yesterday, one of which i think is very good - very "Train"
sounding. we’ll probably write a few more today. our goal is
to get together once a month like this and write enough good
music that we’re excited about, so that we can record over
the summer and hopefully have something available by the end
of the year. if all goes well, hopefully there will be a
tour to follow, but probably not until early 09.
i am also putting the finishing touches on my first novel,
which i plan to turn over to my literary agents in april.
i’m excited about it and think it turned out very well. but,
don’t look for it in stores until the end of the year at the
earliest. these things takes time.
what else...oh, i’m going to see the Chicago Cubs in Las
Vegas friday night. excited about that. they play their
final two spring training games in vegas every year. i went
last year and had a blast! i also hope to spend some time in
chicago this summer and will attend a few games at Wrigley
Field. okay...gotta run. Brandon is here, fresh off the road
with his brother’s band, Sugarland. they came home from an
australian tour just sunday night. talk to you soon...

Pat Releases His Solo Album 'Last Of Seven'
|
|
The second day of June - Category: Blogging
Hey Y'all!
Just got back from a Mariners game. Sorry Texas, but we won....
Music news for me is that I will have a single out in the next few
weeks. It's a song called HER EYES. I wrote it with Pat Leonard and
John Shanks. I really love it. I'd say it's a bit of a Meet
Virginia kind of song. I hope you'll all get to hear it soon.
My CD will be out on September 18 as of now. There are 13 and a
half songs on it.
Brandi is on a song called Pirate On The Run. Jimmy Stafford played
some guitar on that one as well.
Much love! Hope you're all getting it!

A Bone
this is me throwing you a bone from my
novel titled, The Guitar on the Wall, because i really have
nothing else to talk about right now, but felt like i
haven't written a blog in awhile. unfortunately, the way
these myspace blogs are laid out, it won't allow my
paragraphs to be properly indented! but, you can kinda tell
where it should be, so although it doesn't look right, i'm
going to post it anyway. the following is an excerpt from
chapter 1 titled, The Crash. this is how the book begins:
Joey had only been asleep for two hours when the sound of
the bus tires driving over rumble strips awoke him. The
others were awakened, too – five band members and their
tour manager, until then, dead to the world in their bunks.
Joey heard somebody frantically pull open a bunk curtain,
but he remained still, frozen and terrified, waiting for the
driver to correct himself.
"Hey, guys?"
"Fucking hell!" from the bunk below him.
The tires curved back onto smooth pavement to a collective
sigh of relief. Then, the rumble strips again.
BRUMMMP BUMP BUMP BUMP BUMP.
"Jesus Christ!"
This time, it was the tires on the left side, the driver's
side of the bus. Another curtain flung open. The tour bus,
their home away from home, was veering rapidly off the road.
...that's all for now. have a safe and fun memorial day
weekend!

Pat Goes Solo - Last Of Seven
|
|
It is May 6, 2007 and I have
completed my first solo record.
We are just sequencing and putting some final touches on a few
things and I will head back home tonight.
I'm going to call it Last Of Seven.
It will have 12 tracks on it with a prelude and a little ditty here
and there.
I am really excited and proud of all of thiese songs. They all have
a lot of meaning to me and my life as a guy trying to figure this
whole thing out.
Now that it is done, we'll do some retouching, mastering and making
sure that the order is perfect. Then I can get a release date, tour
schedule and all the other fun stuff that comes along with it.
I hope that you will all be as happy with this as I am. It is truly
special.
Thanks for being such good friends and support for me over this
period. I will talk to you all soon.
With love,
Pat
